4. Types of skills
There are five basic skill types in Honkai: Star Rail.
– Basic Attack: Use unconditionally and will restore one skill point.
– Battle Skills: Has additional effects and better damage, but requires one skill point.
– Great Skill: Requires enough energy to cast and can be used outside of the character’s turn.
– Thien Phu: Passive ability will automatically activate during battle.
– Secret Skill: Can only be used outside of battle
Unlike Genshin Impact, where passives are automatically unlocked when the character breaks through, in Honkai: Star Rail, players must gradually unlock them through the Trace system.
5. Battle Skill Points and Secret Skill Points
Both War Skills and Secret Skills have their own counters so players can use them.
A normal attack will restore 1 Combat Skill point, and if the object is broken, it will restore 2 Secret Skill points.
